The White House announced that President Joe Biden has directed that flags be flown at half-staff for 30 days in Carters memory. Memorials will commence with Carter lying in state, then a guard of honor in the Capitol Rotunda provided by members of Congress. The public is however welcome to come and pay their respects on Wednesday when the nation mourns for Carter.

On Thursday, Carter will be laid to rest in a state funeral at the National Cathedral, and Biden is likely to give a eulogy. The service will reunite leaders current and former, Biden and President-elect Donald Trump.
