The Pennsylvania rally video depicted the sniper glancing upwards in apparent disbelief as the initial shot echoed. Trump faced an evident assassination attempt on Saturday, occurring just days ahead of his anticipated acceptance of the Republican nomination for a third term. Authorities confirmed one casualty and two critically injured attendees. The Secret Service announced it had eliminated the shooter, who had fired from an elevated vantage outside the rally venue, a farm show in Butler, Pennsylvania, ensuring Trump’s safety.

Despite the attack, Trump’s campaign confirmed the convention will proceed as planned. President Joe Biden, Trump’s opponent, was briefed on the incident and spoke with Trump hours later. “Such violence has no place in America. It’s abhorrent,” Biden remarked publicly. He also planned an early return to Washington, abbreviating a weekend at his residence in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
